Okay I'm back and If you can't already tell from the title I've officially been accepted into the Academy of Broadcasting Corporation for their "Media Writing", course.
I'm excited because It means leaving my dead end job and getting something closer to my interests.
Right now despite my long work hours I've managed to get a lot or writing done lately. I actually have most of the next chapter of Dragon's Fury written up and hoperully I'll have it up soon, no promises though.
If anybody is interested in anime at all
animeseason.com has several recently added ongoing series that are quite intersting.
Gosick: Takes place in 1924 and centres around a Japanese guy named Kujo who transfers to a high class school in the fictional country of Sabure. He meets a girl there named Victorique/Victorica(there's an online war about which is her real name) who is small, blonde, and brilliant. The story revolves around the two of them solving varous murders.
It's actually better than you might think because the episodes intertwine very well as something that happened in the previous murder case is directly linked to another. It's well animated, well written and brilliantly directed. A must see for sure.
Yumekui Merry(Dream Eater Merry): Tied with Gosick as my favorite ongoing anime at the moment it's about a guy name Yumeji who has the ability to see other peoples dreams and he meets a girl named Merry who came from the dream world to reality and is trying desprately to get back. As Yumeji tries to help her out they encounter "Muma", other denisens from the dream world who are taking over peoples bodies and eating their dreams.
Although some people label this anime as "Dream Eater on a budget", that couldn't be further from the truth. It's very well animated and had good dialogue, plus it has an awesome intro, really pumpin. On top of all that Merry herself makes the show. She's cute, funny, and an awesome fighter who loves donuts. It's not slapstick although there is comedy. It's a fun dramatic ride that has plenty of laughs along the way.
Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika For a long time I put off watching this show just because I'm not so much into the whole Magical Girl thing. However when I finally decided to watch the first episode just in case it turned out to be interesting I was impressed with the openeing scene showing off the impressive animation and detail. The story takes place in the near future and the futuristic architecture and interior layouts are really interesting. The school for example has see-through walls for it's classrooms and the washroom in the main characters house is huge.
Anyway these two girls get sucked into a wierd dimention where they meet a bunch of wierd creatures called witches that try to kill them. Now at this point I still wasn't sold on this anime, it had yet to show me it wasn't a typical magical girl show despite it's impressive display thus far. And then Mami showed up and saved the girls lives.
Mami is THE most BADASS MAGICAL GIRL EVAR!!!!!!!!!!! Just check out this
gif and watch the first two episodes. She sold me on this anime and I have been watching it ever since.
The show is really dramatic and is constantly playing with your head so that you don't know who is friend and who is foe. Not so much school life stuff in this anime, it's all about hunting evil witches and blowing stuff up. In short it's very much an alternative kind of anime that should not be overlooked. Just watch the first and second episode, you will not regret it. You will see that it earns it's dramatic ending theme. Think about it. How mandy magical girl animes are part of the Thriller and, horror and psychological genres all at once.
In other rogue news I'm working on an AT-PT model in blender though it's coming along slowly, but when it's finished it will be my best model ever. It'll also be my first one using the new 2.56 version which I'm liking but still getting used to.
