A bit swamped

2 min read
Okay I guess it's been a while so I'll let you know what's been up with me.

Very little time for anything these days so that's why my updates have been slow.(slower than usual anyway) Between my online physics course and my renovating the house there just isn't much free time or when their is I'm too tired or out of the zone to do anything artistic even when I try to force myself. Anyway that's what's up.

If you like video game music then please check out ocremix.org There you'll find tones of great video game remixes.

And if you're interested in video games in general check out Extra Credits where you get some great insider info on the game industry and there's a lot for you to learn there if you're interested in doing any games youself.

Not much else to say at the moment as I'm pretty busy but I'll try to get my creative juices going a bit more.

Speaking of I've found that with my 3d modelling I'm being overly ambitious with my projects so I'm tuning it down a bit to get better before moving on to bigger things. Hence the missile launcher with has some of my best texture work. I'm quite pleased with it.

Anyways I'll be sure to update as soon as I can. Thanks for watching.

Okay here we are the first journal in a while.

First off thanks to everyone who wished me a happy Birthday I appreciated it.

On Monday we went to my grandparents place and we had a tire blowout on the way. There was a hole nearly as big as my fist in the sidewall. We tried to take the tire off to replace it with the spare but the lug nut key broke!!!! When does that happen!?!? We were only using our hands and it broke? Anyway with help from a local and some creative application we managed to get the tire off and ths spare on. Still how does a lug nut key break so easily?

On to more DA related things: I've set myself an ambitious project codenamed: Proto 2. Similar to Proto 1 that I last uploaded but far more uh, ambitious. Like Proto 1 it'll be a way for me to push my limits and do more with a model than I ever have before. With Proto 1 I was able to test my making accurate textures in conjunction with normal and spec maps. Now I'm upping the ante and the scale. Proto 2 is another ship but one of far greater scale and detail. I'll be adding lots of mesh details and texture details which are unprecedented for me but I look forward to finishing it. I know that actually making it happen is going to be a pain. I have an idea of how to do things to get the effects I want but I have to try them out first.

If anyone can provide advice on texture details(adding/making decals and other small details) or adding mesh details(greebles nurnies and the like) on a ship I would be most appreciative.

On another note I've almost finished writing the next chapter of Dragon's Fury so hopefully you won't have to wait for too much longer.

Rogue Rant

Exciting news watchers. I've posted my first but hopefully not last Rogue Rant on youtube. This came from reading a rather stupid article in the paper and I and everyone else with common sense disagreed with it so I was inspired to rant about it and post it on youtube Here Please view it and tell me what you think.

I'm almost finished writing up the next chapter of Dragon's fury and hopefully I'll get it up this month.

My Thor model has really taken a back seat though and is collecting dust I'm ashamed to say. Hopefully I'll be able to do something about that soon.

Anyway please view the rant and I'll talk to you soon.

Yes you've read it correctly, I know have a premium membership thanks to a gift Visa card I got that allowed me to purshase one online. I can't say it'll make anything different yet but we'll see what happens.

Anyway I want to write things in my journal more often and maybe some kind of mini blog thing with polls or something but we'll see what happens, I want to make some use of the journal and be a little more active on DA.

As for what I'm currently working on I'm trying to get my thor/summoner textured but first I have to set up the uv image and the seams are a pain. augh!!! I didn't think the shape was that complicated.

Also I'm currently writing the next chapter of Dragon's Fury and Daniel and Kenora but while I'm at home it will have to take a side seat somewhat to my Thor. Sorry.

In other news if you're into anime at all you should check out Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika  which recently aired it's final episode. It has widely been discribed as one of the gems of the season, a sleeper hit if you will. Although the title might put some people off (as it did me initially I'm ashamed to say) it is much better than you think. The writing and story is the best I've encountered since Code Geass and the musical score and animation is top notch, there's plenty of action too but drama is the main feather in this well knitted cap. It constantly plays with your head and your concept of friend foe and story, it's unpredictable and originall hence why I love it. If you like anime even in the slightest this is worth checking out.

Another anime I really like that's just put out it's 14th episode is... are you ready? (deep breath) Ore No Imouto Ga Konna Ni Kawaii Wake Ga Nai also known as Oriemo or Ore no Imouto since the real title is so damn long. This for a while has been an anime I have been watching again and again for a reason I can't really explain.

The basic premise is that a guy named Kyousuke discovers his sister Kirino's secret hobby and he has to help her keep it a secret especially from their father. Additionally he has to give her life advice which is the main plot point of many of the episodes as it often results in them getting into the various episodes that are the main plot of the episode though it's usually related to Kirino's hobby. It's a comedy as you may have guessed but it also has a lot of depth to it. The supporting characters really help make the show, especially Kirino's Otaku friends Saori and best of all Kuroneko(Black Cat) [who enjoys some lime light after episode 12.5 during the true route.] as well as several other characters. I think a lot of people like the show because lots of people can relate to sister-brother situations. The anime's not for everyone but just watch the first three or four episodes before you make up your mind because it really gets good later on especially during the True End arc.

As a final not on this anime that really makes it unique and interesting is the fact that the opening is different almost every time and done to a hight quality and standard so it's far from bland. It's the same song but they use slightly different clips in different order and occasionally add all new ones to keep it interesting. The ending theme a believe is different every episode.

If you want to hear my thoughts on other good anime see my previous journal.

Okay I'm back and If you can't already tell from the title I've officially been accepted into the Academy of Broadcasting Corporation for their "Media Writing", course.
I'm excited because It means leaving my dead end job and getting something closer to my interests.

Right now despite my long work hours I've managed to get a lot or writing done lately. I actually have most of the next chapter of Dragon's Fury written up and hoperully I'll have it up soon, no promises though.

If anybody is interested in anime at all animeseason.com has several recently added ongoing series that are quite intersting.

Gosick: Takes place in 1924 and centres around a Japanese guy named Kujo who transfers to a high class school in the fictional country of Sabure. He meets a girl there named Victorique/Victorica(there's an online war about which is her real name) who is small, blonde, and brilliant. The story revolves around the two of them solving varous murders.

It's actually better than you might think because the episodes intertwine very well as something that happened in the previous murder case is directly linked to another. It's well animated, well written and brilliantly directed. A must see for sure.

Yumekui Merry(Dream Eater Merry): Tied with Gosick as my favorite ongoing anime at the moment it's about a guy name Yumeji who has the ability to see other peoples dreams and he meets a girl named Merry who came from the dream world to reality and is trying desprately to get back. As Yumeji tries to help her out they encounter "Muma", other denisens from the dream world who are taking over peoples bodies and eating their dreams.

Although some people label this anime as "Dream Eater on a budget", that couldn't be further from the truth. It's very well animated and had good dialogue, plus it has an awesome intro, really pumpin. On top of all that Merry herself makes the show. She's cute, funny, and an awesome fighter who loves donuts. It's not slapstick although there is comedy. It's a fun dramatic ride that has plenty of laughs along the way.

Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika For a long time I put off watching this show just because I'm not so much into the whole Magical Girl thing. However when I finally decided to watch the first episode just in case it turned out to be interesting I was impressed with the openeing scene showing off the impressive animation and detail. The story takes place in the near future and the futuristic architecture and interior layouts are really interesting. The school for example has see-through walls for it's classrooms and the washroom in the main characters house is huge.

Anyway these two girls get sucked into a wierd dimention where they meet a bunch of wierd creatures called witches that try to kill them. Now at this point I still wasn't sold on this anime, it had yet to show me it wasn't a typical magical girl show despite it's impressive display thus far. And then Mami showed up and saved the girls lives.

Mami is THE most BADASS MAGICAL GIRL EVAR!!!!!!!!!!! Just check out this gif and watch the first two episodes. She sold me on this anime and I have been watching it ever since.

The show is really dramatic and is constantly playing with your head so that you don't know who is friend and who is foe. Not so much school life stuff in this anime, it's all about hunting evil witches and blowing stuff up. In short it's very much an alternative kind of anime that should not be overlooked. Just watch the first and second episode, you will not regret it. You will see that it earns it's dramatic ending theme. Think about it. How mandy magical girl animes are part of the Thriller and, horror and psychological genres all at once.

In other rogue news I'm working on an AT-PT model in blender though it's coming along slowly, but when it's finished it will be my best model ever. It'll also be my first one using the new 2.56 version which I'm liking but still getting used to.
